A Brief Window into my Life
Hello everyone. My name is Daniel Joel Ledesma. I was born in Sacramento, California in the year 2000 on January 10th. I was born to my parents Gina and Joel Ledesma. I have one younger sibling, who is just two years younger than me. I have only lived in two homes in my entire life! I started school at the age of 3 at a preschool in the Land Park area called Learning tree. From this school, I then transitioned into kindergarten at a nearby school called St. Roberts Catholic School. I went here from Kindergarten and went all the way until the eighth grade. I still have many of my friends from this era of my life because many followed me into High School. I went to a high school not too far from my elementary school. It was called Christian Brothers High School. I remained at this school for the entirety of my high school career. I graduated from High School in May of 2018. From then I took a semester off of school and did not further my education until the spring of 2019. During my break, I worked at Mcdonald’s in West Sacramento and worked into the beginning of the spring semester before deciding this environment was not the best to be in, if I wished to further my education. I quit and focused on school for 5 months, and once I had gotten back into the rhythm of school, I found the job I currently work at. This place being Chevy’s on the River. I currently work as a Host, Food Runner, Busser, or Expediter. This Restaurant has been flexible with my schooling and has provided me with good life experience. I plan to work here as long as I am in Sacramento and do not have a college degree. Now… Enough about my outside activities. My academic career began at Sac City in Spring 2019. I am a computer engineering major and hope to transfer before the end of 2021.
What Are My Aspirations ?
I hope to transfer to UC Berkeley and get my degree from there. With said degree, I wish to find a good paying job and hopefully work for Google. Aside from career goals, I wish to hopefully have a family of my own and live a happy life. I hope be well traveled and well educated. I hope to live a long life.
What are my gifts?
I was gifted with a privileged upbringing first and foremost. This has allowed me to focus on improving my other gifts. I have always been gifted with math skills. Math, for me, is enjoyable and have the ability pick up concepts easily. I also have this ability with the sciences. In high school I took AP Chemistry, AP Biology, and an Honors Physics course and successfully passed my AP exams and excelled in those classes. I also had many success playing sports growing up. I played soccer, basketball, cross country, track, and water polo.
What Are My Struggles?
Academically, I struggle with English Classes. I have trouble composing my thoughts into words and stretching those thoughts into long papers. Another struggle I have is my motivation. I often have trouble wanting to academic things or wanting to go to work. I have bits of motivation, usually when I get everything done, but it’s difficult to find that motivation. I also struggle with public speaking. I have no public speaking ability whatsoever and wish to improve upon that.
