My comment on Erik O’s post called “eXistenZ” is below:

“This is an extremely hot take Erik. This post is incredibly thought provoking. I like how you can differentiate between the different times the film takes place and during which we are living. Perspective can change and I like that you made this apparent in your analysis of the question. This film really plays with the concept of ideas and it truly is confusing that with new technology in our ever-changing digital age that reality can be changed. I like how you said that in the reality of the games come from the ideas of the designers. The designers for me have a large significance in another way as well. This is a little off topic, but your article brought this to my attention, but the assassination and hunting of the game designers is reminiscent of the quote “God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him.” from Friedrich Nietzsche. Plato claims that ideas only come from god and as humans we can only replicate ideas. Well in the video games, the realities have morphed into the ideas of the game designer which in turn leads those participating in the reality to kill the designer of the new reality or “god” just as we did in our reality by trying to reach enlightenment. Just something interesting I also noticed in the film.” (224 words).

My comment on Erica N’s post called “Fallacy Database“:

These are awesome examples of different fallacies. I really enjoy your creativity and you really showed the nuance in fallacies. In my examples I gave the extremes of the fallacies to really demonstrate the definition, but these fallacies can be found in more scenarios. “You’re a Republican so you are racist.” This is an extremely simple example that would be found in real life. Thank you for your examples. (69 words).

Awesome Post! I like your analysis of how previous knowledge can greatly affect our knowledge. Our previous misguided knowledge could lead us to living lives that are not reaching their maximum potential or we are living with false beliefs. We have to understand that we simply will have some false beliefs and we cannot justify every belief with fact. (59 words).

Really good analysis of the Descartes article. Isn’t it strange how nothing can be trusted? We cannot trust even our own minds because anything can be tampered with or distorted. We seek the truth but every question we have is just answered with another question. Descartes is making the point that truth is inconclusive and subjective. (56 words).

My comment on Angie T’s post called “Hume & Buddha”:

April 28, 2020 at 9:13 pm

Hello! Really interesting blog! I really like “I do think there is a self, and I think that your past doesn’t necessarily represent who you are, but it can if you choose it to be.” This is a good argument against Hume. It isn’t the reason I used and it is always good to see another opinion.I don’t think Buddha or Hume would consider robots to have self. I believe the point being made is that their is no “self,” not just in humans but across existence. (87 words)

Really good post! I really like your example of using Jesus Christ as a deceptive art. His image changes from religion to religion and even person to person! This was Plato’s point being that art cannot be trusted because no person knows the complete truth. Another reason i liked the example of Jesus because it represents a different form of “Art.” Even the perception of “Art” can be changed. I personally would not consider “jesus” to be art, but this proves art is incredibly deceitful. (85 words)

My comment on Pedro L’s post called : ” blog # 15 Hume, Of Personal Identity: Hume’s Total Recall

April 28, 2020 at 9:55 pm

Hello. Really interesting concepts you are touching on here. You say that if you have forgotten a period of your life then this version of you no longer exist because your “self” lives and is found in memories. I think this is really interesting. I suppose that YOUR version of yourself might no longer exist but others may remember that version of you, so therefore A VERSION of your “self” exists from that time. Just something i thought about. My comment on Erik O’s “Identity of Personality“:

May 7, 2020 at 7:57 pm

Erik… Your thoughts on Hume are phenomenal! Good job! You make note that “Personal identity really comes from one’s perception of the world,” and i just want to echo this sentiment because I think this an important topic to discuss. Self identity is constantly changing. Perceptions can change from encounter to encounter. (52 Words)

My comment on Angie T’s post called “Frankfurt“:

May 7, 2020 at 1:12 pm

Hello Angie! Really good post! Really good examples for what each order of desire was> They are really helpful in understanding how they apply and actually work in our lives. Giving us these examples also helps us understand why Frankfurt defines a person as a being that has second-order desires. (50 words)

May 7, 2020 at 8:21 pm

Really awesome post! I think you did a really good job on your commentary of the ideas being presented in the article. This is a really confusing topic and you laid out a track for us to follow and understand the thought processes behind the argument and even gave us your own opinion sprinkled in. I also agree with what you said at the end of us never being able to create new concepts. (74 words)

Hello, well thought out post. I really like how you broke down a complicated reading into the core of the reading. There is no filler, which I appreciate. I also agree with the hole you see in Plato’s argument. One question will always lead to another. (46 words)

My post on Erica N’s post called “Meditations on First Philosophy“:

May 11, 2020 at 8:48 pm

Hello! I really like your last statement that “we can’t prove our consciousness is ‘authentic.'” I have to say i agree with the sentiment as well. Reality is difficult to prove as no reality is the same and each is built off perception. We know nothing about own existence and to understand is just another step in our own enlightenment.
